Home Tuition

Home Tuition is available with English Plus for teenagers and adults. This is a programme for students to live and have one to one lessons with a teacher.

Your English level will be tested when you arrive and a plan will be arranged, together with you, for what you would like to cover during your stay. Your teacher will then deliver the agreed sessions, revolving it around your stay here.

The benefit of Home Tuition is the mixture of day-to-day life and what you learn in your lessons and being able to put your English to practical use, together with a qualified teacher to help you with whatever you need.

Meet Our Home Tutor: Cate

Cate lives in the beautiful village of Dyserth and loves teaching English to international students in her home.

Home Tutors North WalesCate studied Spanish at university in London and then gained a PGCE (teaching qualification).  She worked for a while in business before taking her CELTA in Manchester and returning to her first love, teaching.

Cate and her two sons enjoy getting out and about.  They live in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; an excellent place for walking and bike rides.  "I like to take students out and about and show them the lovely countryside, as well as Chester, Llandudno, Ruthin and Conwy - places with a lot of history.

English Home Tutors in WalesFor teaching, Cate draws a lot on her experience of learning Spanish and the importance of blending lessons with local culture and real life experiences, "I like home tutoring because this way, students get the full experience - of learning the culture and using the language in an authentic situation.  I would want the same for my own boys.

"I try to bring out the best in each individual student and get to know them they can get the best out of their learning.  In the morning lessons, we talk about a place or an activity, and then we go and visit.  For example, we talk about food and shopping and then we cook a meal together.  This is especially helpful for students who are not so confident and who want to boost their speaking.
